If you apply armor liquid membrane and it still feels tacky after letting it fully cure here are some steps to take
Humidity plays a big part to the overall dry and cure time of the the Armor Liquid Membrane coating. It is crucial to apply the material in thin coats to allow the membrane to breathe out. When applying each coat, it is important to ensure it is fully dry prior to proceeding.

Do you have leftover material?
-
- When a coat is not dry and another coat is applied over it, it traps in the moisture which results in the tackiness.
- If this is the case, then after 7 days of the floor being fully cured, we recommend applying a very thin coat in a small area of the floor that is still tacky.
- This will cover the tackiness and allow it to continue breathing out underneath.
- If the floor is no longer tacky after letting it dry then you can proceed to recoat the floor.
- Recoat time of 1-2 hours is essential. If the liquid membrane coating is applied after the recommended time, it can cause the previous coat to re-emulsify or bubble. If the recoat window is missed, you will need to wait 3-4 days before coating. Please ensure that when applying multiple coats you ensure to coat within the recoat window.
Step by Step
- Apply small amount of liquid membrane to a small area of the floor that is still tacky.
- Ensure that this is done at least 7 days after the last coat (the one that is tacky) was applied
- Wait for the test area coating to dry.
- If the floor is no longer tacky you can proceed with coating the rest of the floor
- If the floor is still tacky then we recommend using our Armor Shield product. This can be applied right over the tacky liquid membrane coating, but if leaves/dirt get stuck to the Liquid Membrane these will need to be removed before sealing. Contact your sales representative for pricing or send an email to info@armorpoxy.com for more information.
- Please note when using Armor Shield that using the colored version will bring out more of the original liquid membrane color as well. It is important to allow the Liquid Membrane to cure a minimum of 72 hours prior to applying the Armor Shield.
- If the area your are coating is a patio or porch that will withstand normal foot traffic, you can use 1-2 coats of the Armor shield. If it is an area such as a driveway or high foot/vehicle traffic, 3 coats are required as the Liquid Membrane product is not designed for this type of traffic.
